Gustav Robert Kirchhoff (1824-1887) was a German physicist.

He announced the laws which allow calculation of the currents, voltages, and resistance of electrical networks in 1845 when he was only 21.

In further studies he demonstrated that current flows through a conductor at the speed of light.
