Solar batteries are used to store solar energy (solar electricity). Solar Battery discharge power as and when needed.

Rechargeable solar batteries are used in off-grid PV systems to store excess electricity. Some solar battery banks use wet cells, while others use sealed or gel cell batteries.

NiMH batteries are preferred and most common when it comes to solar energy because they are better than standard NiCAD batteries in terms of charging and release cycles.

Some solar battery banks use wet cells, while others use sealed or gel cell batteries. Each of these batteries have different temperature, mounting, and ventilation requirements.

It has to be noted that every solar battery is designed for a specific type of charge and discharge cycle.

For example, car solar batteries have thin plates to keep their weight down and are designed for a heavy discharge lasting a few seconds, followed by a long period of slow re-charge.

On the other hand, Golf cart solar batteries have very thick plates designed for several hours of heavy discharge everyday, followed by a fast recharge in only a few hours every night. A 6-volt golf cart battery is the least expensive and easiest to find solar battery.
